Valentine's Day Inspiration

How many people really LOVE this holiday? Seriously, no judgement here. Show of hands. Well, every year this day is a double edged sword for me. For many years as a single gal this day was just a reminder that I was single, not coupled up, had no lover, was ALONE. And then I met my husband and we actually got engaged on Valentine's Day so that changed EVERYTHING. But, if I'm being honest, Valentine's Day is more fun for me if it's shared not only with my husband, but with my longtime girlfriends or other couples. So, I've been trying to plan a little get-a-way for that weekend with friends but keep hitting road blocks so I'll keep you posted on the VDay plans.

No matter what we're doing I love celebrating the sentiment of Valentine's Day through my fashion and so I rounded up a few favorites that will suit any kind of VDay celebration whether it's a casual walk on the trail with your gal pals or it's an all out, romantic dinner for two at home.

Below are a couple of pretty casual looks that have the feel of the holiday. The look are really easy to throw together but the key is a great pair of leggings. The first ones are faux leather leggings. I did a blog specifically about how to style this winter wardrobe staple so if you missed it you can find it here. I paired the leggings with this fabulous red, puff sleeve sweater (ya'll KNOW I love me some sleeve drama) and then put on these super cute and oh so appropriate red Jessica Simpson booties. In staying with the red theme I grabbed my I'm not having a great hair day ball cap and added my new Michael Kors Soho Bag.

The other casual look starts with these Camo Leggings from Old Navy. I LOVE these leggings and will pair them with all kinds of colors, t-shirts, a black blazer, etc., the style options are endless. Here I topped them with an old rocker t-shirt from my closet, a pair of red Nike running shoes,(which are on sale for 50% off) another ballcap, and my fabulous Michael Kors bag. (linked above)

For those of you that are in the "I don't do dresses" crowd, this is a great way to "dress up" without getting out of your comfort zone. These windowpane grid pants from The Gap are affordable, adaptable, and are a great pair of dressier pants to have in your closet.

Same sweater, same booties, and this funky magazine clutch bag pulls it all together. Casually Chic!

Now if you're like me and you want to go ALL IN for your Valentine's Day celebration then this is a great option.

This beautiful Draped Back Cocktail Dress is from Nordstrom and it's a stunner. It's also on sale for 40% Off so grab it so that you'll have it in time for the big day. So that the focus stays on the dress I paired it with these clear heels.

One more WOW factor dress is this one from Asos. This fold-front Bardot midi length pencil dress is gorgeous and definitely a show stopper.

It's got this amazing neckline that dips in the back and it's made from scuba material so it stays in place and keeps everything tight so no Spanx required!

I paired it with these low heeled braided red mules that match it perfectly.

At the end of the day, Valentine's Day is what you make it. It can be a day to celebrate love with a spouse or significant other, a day where you celebrate friendships with your girl gang, or even a day to celebrate you.

This amazing sweater (above) is already sold out but I've linked it for you to join the waitlist if you simply must have it.

Now I've got to get back online to see if I can find a place in Fredericksburg to have a nice weekend with a couple of our friends for the holiday. But whatever we end up doing, bet your bottom dollar that I will be rocking something festive and fun to honor the day.

Cheers friends!

XOXO
